How to Cut Costs by Making Homemade Wedding Favors

A wedding on a budget doesn't have to LOOK like a wedding on a budget. Nobody has to see whether you cut corners. One thing that will evade scrutiny will be well-done homemade wedding favors.

Party favors are common at weddings, since it's expected that guests will be able to take something back with them. Many times it's just a token of remembrance for the day. As such, it's easy to make them yourself!and in the process, you can make something your guests will find useful.

Your first stop should be at the craft store. Most of these places have an aisle or two dedicated to wedding things, including favors. Spending some time browsing these aisles may just spark an idea or two. Below are several suggestions of homemade wedding favors.

Candles - Buy boxes of rose-shaped floating candles in white. Tie ribbons around them in your wedding colors, and top with a flower and bow. Attach a tag thanking your guests for the gift of their presence.

Potpourri - Shop around for some small containers that will go well with the theme of your wedding. Then buy some bags of potpourri. Pour the potpourri in the containers.

Photos and frames - Often, you can find large amounts of small, cheap wooden frames (wallet-sized, 3x5, or 4x6). You can dress them up with a coat of paint, or embellish them even further with craft items such as beads and lace. Put a picture of you and your fiance in each frame.

Many of your guests will keep the photo in the frame once they get home, especially close friends and family. Distantly related guests can decide to use another photo in the frame.

When it comes to homemade wedding favors, these are just a few ideas out of hundreds to start with. By the way, if a trip to the craft store doesn't get any ideas going, spend some time browsing the internet. You should find dozens of ideas this way.
